Artist Name: Basanti Deepjyoti
Place: District Guna, Madhya Pradesh
In the heart of a small village, amidst the many challenges of life, Basanti’s hands weave threads of resilience and hope. For her, the art of macrame is not just a craft; it’s a lifeline—a source of strength and sustenance for her family. Basanti took up the art of Macrame just a year ago, as her financial struggles started to weigh heavy on her life. Before Macrame, Basanti’s life was fraught with uncertainty. Her husband’s disability, coupled with the responsibility of raising two children, added layers of complexity to her already challenging circumstances. With her husband unable to work due to his physical limitations, Basanti decided to shoulder the responsibility of providing for her family alone. But as Basanti delved deeper into the art of macrame, she discovered a newfound sense of empowerment. With each knot and weave, she found solace and purpose. Though the journey has been difficult, Basanti hopes her
unwavering determination will eventually bear fruit. It’s a small step forward, but for Basanti, it’s a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.
