Artist Name: Kanta Khadse
Place: District Mandla, Madhya Pradesh
Kanta’s journey into the world of art began unexpectedly when her husband boarded a train to sell brooms made from the leaves of the khajoor tree, a skill passed down through generations in his family. On this particular day, their lives took a new turn when a government official noticed the unique designs and quality of their brooms and offered support to market them. Encouraged by this opportunity, Kanta decided to explore new avenues for their craft, using similar techniques to create other beautiful products
such as fans and buckets. With the help of advertising, their art gained widespread recognition, and Kanta, who had never ventured beyond her village, was selected by the Indian government to represent Indian art in Dubai. Kanta’s journey from her village to Dubai symbolizes the triumph of her belief and resilience. Her story serves as an inspiration for people everywhere to dare to dream big, knowing that with perseverance, even the stars may become attainable.
