The process of durrie weaving, rooted in rural traditions, is commonly practiced by women in their homes using the Punja technique. Madhya Pradesh’s carpet weavers are revered for their
mastery of both weaving and dyeing techniques. While natural dyes were traditionally used, modern practices now incorporate synthetic dyes. Over the past two centuries, traditional patterns have evolved alongside vibrant floral and geometric designs, showcasing the weaver’s creativity and innovation. Drawing inspiration from ancestral motifs, carpets feature meticulously blended colors depicting elements such as trees, flowers, and geometric shapes, seamlessly blending heritage with contemporary aesthetics.
