Born into a family of farmers, Nisha spent her formative years accompanying her parents to the fields, soaking
in the rhythms of rural life. Married at the young age of 15, Nisha’s ancestral lineage was steeped in the art of
crafting blankets. However, it was the subsequent generation that ventured into the intricate world of carpet
weaving, inspired by the training received in Mirzapur. Initially, they relied on traditional handlooms, later
transitioning to working for companies in exchange for daily wages. As time progressed, Nisha and her fellow
artisans sought to refine their skills further. Some traveled to Jaipur and other centers to learn advanced
techniques, broadening their repertoire of expertise. Today, armed with modern machinery, they operate
independently, bypassing intermediaries to sell their exquisite carpets directly to customers but maintaining
their traditional waves of weaving by hand. What started as a modest endeavor has flourished into a thriving
enterprise, with Nisha leading a team of 30 skilled artisans.
