The curves and criticalities of Gond art overwhelmed Sushma when she first saw her husband concocting
a mixture of hues on the canvas for his painting. What actually drove her close to this art form, practiced
by her ancestors for ages, was the acclaim and respect it brought to her husband. Inspired by the
recognition and admiration garnered by her husband’s artwork from around the world, Sushma felt a
stirring ambition within her own heart. It set a spark in Sushma that only grew stronger with time.
Determined to build the same name for herself, she immersed herself into refining her skills and rallied
the women of her village to join her in this artistic journey. Pooling their resources and talents, they
embarked on a collective endeavour to create Gond art that showcases their cultural heritage. Today,
Sushma and her fellow artisans stand united, not only in their artistic pursuits but also in their unwavering
support for one another’s dreams and hopes.
